Grant proposal

Grant proposal - Choose 1 or 2 topics on a proposed idea (will team up)
Reflection of panelist seminar.

UX Research Proposal || - 508 Compliance

508 compliance/WCAG2.0 AA - these are the standard regulations set forth by the United States Government and UK for digital service standards to ensure EIT and web applications created for public use by the governement are reasonably accessible to all users. Meaning, anyone with a disability should be able to use EIT (electronic and information technology) with equal access. Disabilities span further than just a user who is blind, deaf, or in a wheel chair. These regulations are created to also protect users with color blindness, who have multiple impairments, have learning disabilities, and impaired motor skills etc. I would like to research pitfalls to the implementation of these regulations for government agencies and contractors, create testing guidelines and recommendations (beyond what is listed on web aim), do user testing and get feedback from users with impairments, and feedback from users who use programs like JAWS. I would then like to compare the US and UK regulations while defining how compliance measures up to actual accessibility recommendations from sites like web aim. Please note that compliance is not the same as actual accessibility and neither are the criteria for successfully being compliant.

Remembering NASA and Evaluating Decisions

Horrifying. The explanations and descriptions of how decisions where made seem very ego based. Risk management is an under developed skill.

This story reminds me a lot of formal vs informal evaluation assessments. These events clearly represent the reason why it is critical to make defensible decisions based on facts not pressure or snap judgements. Granted most jobs are not life or death if you are complacent but I'm sure you can connect the dots.

Foreward

I'm looking forward to reading everyone's thoughts on the definition of evaluation, thoughts on the required reading, and how they might be using these in real life.

It's all about terminology. Why are these terms important in evaluation? And what distinguishes them from each other?

It's all about terminology. Why are these terms important in evaluation? And what distinguishes them from each other? a) Needs Assessment b) Monitoring c) Outcome Studies d) Testing e) Measurement f) Assessment The terms assessment, monitoring, outcome studies, testing, measurement, and assessment all define methods to measure criteria. Defining criteria is a key component of any evaluation. The measurements and methods used to develop an evaluation closely relate to research. Research and evaluation methodology may also differ in critical ways like how an evaluator or researcher determines if their outcome is successful, who determines criteria, and which criteria are targeted.

"This week’s discussion is around other broad concepts in Evaluation. For example, what does evaluation mean? How to define evaluation? We are also looking at how to make distinctions about different terminology: Needs Assessment, Monitoring, Outcome Studies, Testing, Measurement, and Assessment."

Audible Enhancements Wish List

Every time anything bad happens to my app or it updates I lose my list of listened to books. With over 800 books, this means I also have a hard time telling which books are all of a sudden missing. It means that I'm not sure which books still need read and I must spend a hour or more figuring it out. I also have multiple tablets, ipad/android, with similar issues.

So, I suggest the following enhancements:

1.) marked as finished books be saved in the database per user. - I DO NOT MEAN DOWNLOADED. I know that I can log into a computer to see which books have been downloaded but that is not the same as completed.
2.) Number books by when they where downloaded. Let this be optional to see. Any books no longer available be grayed out and refunded.
3.) Show the star rating given by the user. This will help when I decide which books or series I want to re-listen to. Obviously I'd love to be able to sort them by high to low ratings. MY high to low rating not the averages by other users. This will also make a nice back up to the marked as finished books, since that enhancement seems to not be coming any time soon.
4.) Allow me to renew early via the application.
