BOOK REVIEW: Fairest: The Lunar Chronicles - Levana's Story UNABRIDGED by Marissa Meyer (Book Series)

Now begins the waiting game

This book includes a preview of the final book, winter. So, I'll spend the next 6-8 months patiently waiting for it to come out and then probably forget half the plot.

The book just before this one left so, so many unanswered questions on the table so I'm glad from the preview that it sounds like we will be skipping back forward to the present.

This book in the series is all set in the past to give us a character background on the queen, her husband, and the two princesses.

Some is expected but most is not. I want to day more but would hate to spoil the book. I enjoyed the mini story but wish this was book .5 and not placed where it is but then again it's good to have a little mystery and this would ruin too much of that for book 1-3.

Disappointed that I still don't know what happened next other than the winter teaser. Now begins the waiting game.

I love Books

I adore reading books of all kinds. There are few genres that I will completely rule out. Horror and westerns do not generally appeal to me, but I have read a little of both.

Big books, short books, happy books, books of adventure, true tales, educational novels, fantasy novellas and books of dystopian futures have all pulled me into their little worlds and broadened my perspective. I really need to blog more and share my personal favorites, thoughts, and tid bits on all these books. I try to keep up but it seems easier to read than it is for me to write. With that in mind, I'd love your suggestions. Delirium is a story of the United States in a hypothetical future where scientists have cured love. In this world love is seen as a delirium, a mind-poison, and something to be feared. Men and women are segregated. The USA has borders reminiscent of the German Holocaust or the Berlin wall. Everyone is a prisoner. The procedure is required and at first the lead character is looking forward to it.

By S.J. West Cursed (Watchers Trilogy) epitomizes everything I love in a book or series. It offers romance, humor, and mystery. Author S.J. West doesn't spell out every detail in the series or answer all your questions up front, she lures you in with one mystery after another and leaves you yearning for answers, mystery, and a few more moments with her lovely characters. 

The Watchers Chronicles is blessed, pun intended, with not just one handsome lead male character, but three. The book includes a damsel in chronic distress, and her witty southern side-kick best friend.

It all begins and ends with a bang.

E.K. Blair is a New York Times Best Selling Author, Bang (Black Lotus #1) (The Black Lotus Series), is the first book I've read by her. Bang is heart wrenching. I finished the first book in this series in one day and am now traumatized waiting for the second and third to be released. 

Last week (Feb 27, 2015) while interviewing indie author Nicole Collet, she recommended Bang and a few other books for me to read. This is the first book in her long list of recommendations that I dove into, head first. I nearly cracked my head and heart open with this book (diving head first).

The Lunar Chronicles starts off with a book called Cinder. This is a futuristic dystopian view of Cinderella in reverse. A young girl who loses everything in the worst ways possible only to discover things she never knew about herself and make lots of new friends against impossible odds on a mission to save two worlds.

Entertaining and Educational Botany

Learn All About the History of Poisonous Plants

Story

Wicked Plants is an educational book about poisonous and insidious plants. It's written more like the story or life of a plant, how it's been mis-used, and as a cautionary tale. The audio version is interesting but fast passed and hard to take notes. I have a large garden and am always afraid I will run into something and not know it's side effect on myself or my puppy.

Highly recommend this book for any gardener, horticulturist, botanist, essential oils fanatic, or just someone curious about poisonous plants.

Book Review: The Little Lady Agency (SERIES) by Hester Browne

This book series is a British Romantic Comedy about a young woman who strikes out on her own to build a business. In the process she helps men find their way and finds herself in the position to maybe find her own.

This is one of the first British series I read in 2007. Immediately, I fell in love with the culture, characters, and couldn't help day-dreaming about a trip to London someday.

I highly recommend this series. It's one of my favorite books and part of the reason I love British Romance Novels.

BOOK REVIEW: A Rogue by Any Other Name by Sarah MacLean

"Typical Period Mystery Love Story"

I consider, A Rogue by Any Other Name, a typical 1800's fiction piece because they all have a pretty obvious template: sweet damsel in distress needs a husband, something bad happens, other questions are posed, woman gets married, and society gossips. I enjoy these books, they are great for passing the time. Modern chic flick movies have a similar template. These books also offer a small glimpse into British aristocratic society in a different time.

These books talk about society rules, fashion, etiquette, old slang, and the discomforts woman endured in another time. In some ways they offer historical facts, but most of the time the authors of this genre take some artistic license.
