Travel Diary: Montana to Idaho + Eat. Pray. Love. Book Review

Eat Pray Love

We are in Montana today. Woke up early to leave Rapid City, the city of black hills gold, my birth place. It only took a couple of short hours to get through South Dakota and another half hour to go through Wyoming. Montana on the other hand has been a full day venture through hills, mountains, and vast amounts of nothing but open air. I’ve made this drive before and from what I can tell you of it, you are better off going with a friend, an audio book, and expecting not to talk on the phone or use any form of internet the whole trek. The real upside for me is I have my dad, my puppy, an iPad, iPhone and a mac book pro to keep me company.

Biz Tips: Flattery in Business

Flattery will get you every where my friend, just be careful to use it sparingly so it doesn't get diluted.

I appreciate comments on my posts and videos more then you know, but I don't expect you to agree with everything that comes out of my brain and onto the keyboard. That's why I ask so many questions in my posts, to encourage you to think outside of the box. Even if you never share those thoughts with me, the trickle effect still occurs.

Social cognition  if you will, you think something, you tell someone and some day those thoughts and stories hopefully come full circle.

Biz Tips: Discovering Your Own Style #style #cognitivethinking #HCI #UX

Beauty and Social Cognition

At the end of January I wrote about how sex sells in the post, Is Victoria's Secret Too Sexy For Their Own Good?: "Sex Sells."  I've put some additional thought into this topic and how cognitive thinking makes us react to certain types of beauty (If you don't know what cognitive thinking means read this post).

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

How many movies do you enjoy watching because the aesthetics are pleasing?

I love watching some movies just because of the era (I love the time of the French Revolution and the 1920's to 1960's). I enjoy watching any movie with Brad Pitt or Matthew McConnehey just because the actors are attractive. Other movies are great because of the love story like Serendipity, How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, He's Just Not That Into You. I just love to see airplanes and fighter pilots in Top Gun. Some movies I enjoy the British accents (or just accents in general but Love Actually is great for this), and a select few are great for their interior design (Something's Gotta Give).

Does Sex Sell?

We all have heard the term: "Sex Sells." It's true. We like looking at "attractive" people, but what does it mean to be attractive? Whether they are a little over weight, tall, skinny, dark hair, light hair or anything in between is besides the point it's that we find them attractive, well groomed, or well dressed that we tend to Clammer toward. A Clammer is a marine crustacean that burrows into the depths, which is also how we got the term clammer, or to dig. So let's dig into this topic, shall we?
