A, AA, and AAA: Why the Levels Are Different

One building. Three doors. Only one of them is required by law.

Door A is the floor — the bare minimum to get in at all. Fail A, and many people are simply locked out.

Door AA is the law. Built for the widest range of actual users — text at 4.5 to 1 contrast, readable by most eyes.

Door AAA is the aspiration. Seven to one contrast. Sign language with the video. No time limits.

Why three doors? A is possible everywhere. AA is achievable, so the law lands there. AAA is gold — and some content honestly can't reach all of it.

💡 The scenario I shared is a fictionalized composite informed by patterns I've seen firsthand. The people are fictional; the accessibility barriers are real.
