Marcus builds websites for a state agency. He figured Section 508 was Washington's problem.
Then his office won federal grant money. And Washington's rulebook landed on his desk.
Section 508 is a federal law: technology the government buys, builds, or uses has to work for everyone. Federal agencies first — but when federal money flows into state programs, the accessibility requirements flow with it. And the standard it points to is WCAG: text alternatives, keyboard access, real contrast, captions.
One rulebook. One standard. And residents who can finally finish the form.
💡 The scenario I shared is a fictionalized composite informed by patterns I've seen firsthand. The people are fictional; the accessibility barriers are real.
